Fake Glutathione Brands: Buyers BEWARE!

United Shelter Health Products, makers of Lucida-DS Glutathione and Vaniderm whitening supplements is threatening to file a libel suit against ABS-CBN’s Chief Correspondent, Korina Sanchez.

This is in connection to Korina’s report that 7 out of 9 whitening products in the market failed the independent test done by the Philippine Institute of Applied Chemistry (or PIPAC) in terms of actual glutathione content. Lucida and Vaniderm were two of the products identified in Korina’s report, which failed the test.

Kyusoku Bihaku

Buyers should also beware of Glutathione Brands with NO BFAD CERTIFICATES. They are as follows:

You might ask how we got a hold of these details. Well, actually, there are sellers online who specifically state that these products are not BFAD APPROVED! The apparent implication is that the sellers’ supposed liabilities and responsibilities for their products and customers are transferred to the latter. Therefore, customers can no longer accuse these sellers of ripping them off in case they experience any negative effects. Because after all, they have been duly warned!

Another thing… there are also glutathione suppliers who say that their products are imported from the U.S. or some other foreign country. This is a good marketing ploy because once people see the “Made in the U.S.A” or any mention of a foreign maker, they instantly think “HIGH QUALITY and BETTER than locally-made products.”

Try googling for the principal manufacturer’s or direct supplier’s website of Dr. Mayer, Dr. James glutathione and other brand names containing the “U.S.” mark and you will surely end up with only several Philippine websites, classified ads and forums because that’s only where you can research those whitening pills…not from the makers themselves!

So buyers beware of sellers who do not have any knowledge about their products’ actual manufacturers because in case something happens to you or your skin or your health, those sellers will just scamper away and you will be left with  irreversible damages that you must deal with…on your own!

Don’t risk your health. Research the product first before buying it. Consult your doctor. Then that’s the only time that you can make a well-informed decision.

    This article truly saved my life. Honestly, I just got Claire Blanche which is a non-bfad approved brand. I started to get weird feelings in my chest so I stopped. So now I understand why. Thank you so much for this article, you confirmed to me that there really is something wrong with Claire Blanche. So anybody who is using it or thinkg about using, DON’T DO IT! IT’S NOT GOOD!!!!!

That way you would know exactly what caused the negative side effects and how to prevent further damage to your health.

    Generally, glutathione is considered to be free of any negative side effects. And we advise all consumers to research a glutathione brand thoroughly before buying it because there are a lot of fakes being sold in the market.

    hi..im daniell..i just saw ur information on the buyer beware n surprisingly my gluthione pills listed as one of glutithione products that failed th test…i just bought a a bottle of glutathione pilss and glutathione soap fron white brand which i was informed it was made in philipines. the thing is im not so pretty sure if its actually effective. however it was approved by philipines ministry of health as stated on the bottles. please advice me…

    Which “White” brand are you referring to from the list above? You can contact your seller or the manufacturer to ask them if they have already been approved by BFAD. This report happened a year ago, so perhaps the brands named in Ms. Korina Sanchez’s report have already acquired their BFAD permit or whatnot. The best thing to do is call the office of BFAD to inquire about the product you purchased. We cannot actually comment on the effectiveness of those brands because we haven’t tried any of them.
